“How e dey be”? is a question that means “What’s happening?” “How are you doing?” “What’s your opinion?” As in, “We wan buy bolé… How e dey be?” It is used by all city dwellers from the street to the markets, by students of higher schooling and adults alike.
How e dey be?” as used by many pidgin english speakers from around Nigeria and abroad clearly is Port-Harcourt original, it is a style that has come to be embraced by many.
